Badger Realty has announced the sale of the The Forest-A Country Inn in Bartlett.Linda Trask and Mitchell Scher have purchased the inn from Lisa and the late Bill Guppy. David Cianciolo, at Badger Realty, represented the Guppys; Dick Badger represented Trask and Scher.Don Nicoletta, vice president of Berlin City Bank, facilitated the financing utilizing SBAs 504 plan.Lisa and Bill Guppy owned the Forest Inn for nine years. They loved the business, and Lisa Guppy said she is looking forward to remaining a local here in the Mount Washington Valley.Mitchell Schers first love is the saxophone. After attending the Berklee School of Music, he played with Little Richard, and then ended up on the West Coast in the Navy Band. This is where he met Linda Trask, who was in the transportation and marketing industry. They decided to follow their hearts back to the East Coast in search of an opportunity to pursue their dream of owning and running an Inn. The Forest Inn, in Bartlett, has a rich history that may not be common knowledge to many. In the early 1940s the name of the inn was the Holiday Inn. Irving Berlin was rumored to have been a frequent guest of the bed and breakfast, and in 1942 wrote the musical The Holiday Inn loosely based on his adventures at the inn in Bartlett. The purchase of an inn has always been a lifelong dream of Linda Trask. She was partly inspired by the movie The Holiday Inn, which ignited her interest and love for owing her own B&B. After scouring the state of New Hampshire, with the assistance of Dick Badger, she and Scher fell in love with the Mount Washington Valley and say they are thrilled to become members in this community. Trask and Scher have big plans in store for the Inn. In addition to redecorating and adding more amenities, they are planning on changing the name to the Glen Oaks Inn. The change over will take place June 1, just in time for the summer season. Special events are planned, including afternoon socials and mother/daughter teas.
