The Bridgton Colonial Restaurant will be reopening in November under a new name, The Gateway Restaurant.John and Marilyn Smith, owners of Menotomy Consulting and Development Inc., of Sweden, Maine, recently purchased Bridgton Colonial Restaurant, and they reached an agreement with Mary E. Sohl for lease and operation of the property.Sohl, a native of Sweden, Maine, has over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry. She lives in Sweden with her mother and two sons, and she has been an active member of the community for many years. She is currently chairperson of the Sweden Planning Board, and she has also served on the Sweden Heritage Fund and the SAD 72 school board.Of the name change to The Gateway Restaurant, Marilyn Smith said, "As you crest the hill approaching Bridgton from Portland on Route 302, it just seems to be the gateway to Bridgton."
