The recent political election cycle is, mercifully, over. Here’s a shout-out to the United States Postal Service for handling and delivering all those campaign fliers and postcards that just end up in the trash. Surely, a thankless job with dubious effectiveness.

Still, it did get me thinking about the esteem we place (or once placed) on politicians, officials and executives. In fact, more than a few vehicles have been named as such in an attempt, I can only assume, to boost their stature. Times and fortunes drift with the wind and it seems, perhaps, the time has passed for this sort of status to be automatically admired. However, around the mid-last century there were plenty to choose from.
