CONWAY — With an aim toward putting a dent in the town’s affordable housing crunch, local consultant Shawn Bergeron has spearheaded a petitioned zoning amendment drive that would allow for greater density for existing buildings, most of which are served by municipal sewer.

Bergeron, of Bergeron Technical Services of Conway, and a former town building and safety official, says his intent is to increase the local rental housing stock, while giving new life to older structures by allowing them to have more dwelling units.
