CONWAY — Adventure Suites, North Conway’s popular themed hotel, plans to add a mountain-view spa, restaurant and two bars, slated to open in August.
Voted the No. 1 hotel in the Mount Washington Valley by Conway Daily Sun readers, Adventure Suites will now offer hotel guests, weddings, groups and the public a unique setting to kick back and relax.
Adventure Suites’ owners Kathy Brassill-Doucet and Alan Doucet brought their sense of fun, adventure and design aesthetic to this most recent addition to the hotel, celebrating its 45th year of operations in 2019. At a projected budget of over $500,000, the addition of these
amenities now offer their guests everything they need for a fun and relaxing vacation on-property.
Like the rest of the property, the restaurant and bars will offer festive themes unlike most traditional hotels and venues.
The Gringo Bar will have warm Mexican colors and decor, and seating for groups of up to 50 people.
The White Horse Saloon will have a hand-hewn wooden bar with views to the Moat Mountains, outdoor seating and a comfort-food menu.
The spa features unexpected design touches. The four oversized foot-soaking chairs are positioned in front of a wall of windows and rest on a mosaic flooring with a martini glass pattern. And yes, guests can soak and enjoy an adult beverage from the bar.
Hotel guests have always enjoyed breakfast included in their lodging rates, and with the addition of the White Horse Saloon Restaurant, they can now eat there or request room service. Considering some of the luxury themed suites accommodate 16 people or more, it’s easy to see how parties and groups of all sizes will enjoy their stay.
Brassill-Doucet explains their vision: “We felt it was the next step for Adventure Suites to bring it to a new level. The families and couples staying with us have expressed an interest in being able to have options like a bar and restaurant on-site. We plan to expand our wedding packages and functions too.”
She previewed the western-themed restaurant, which also offers outdoor seating. As everything else at Adventure Suites, it is one-of-a-kind.
“We are using a lot of repurposed barn board and western style for the room,” she said. “The Gringo Bar itself came from Brazil, made out of recycled mill materials. I purchased it in Jerome, Ariz. We travel around the world sourcing our props. Sometimes we hold on to props for years until we find their forever home.”
This unique approach will appeal to brides and grooms seeking something completely different for their wedding party. And the upgrades open up the option of weddings on a larger scale.
Additionally, those seeking an outdoor wedding can utilize an oversized 20-by-40-foot tent, to be set up on the back lawn, all with those famous White Mountain views.
Brassill-Doucet continued: “We’ll have special menus for weddings and groups planning a party with us. We have the Haunted Castle, a function room, the back yard with mountain views — it will make for a unique wedding. We have packages that include everything — photographer, flowers and more.”
The Haunted Castle suite was added in 2018 and has already hosted special events.
Another must-have for the ultimate wedding? The new spa has luxurious accommodations for the wedding party and for all guests.
Brassill-Doucet’s love of pampered travel led to adding of the spa. “When I stay at hotels, I like to use a spa. It makes a big difference for me, I thought it would make sense for our guests,” she said. “We’ve always offered in-room massages, but now we have this professional sound-proofed relaxing atmosphere in our two massage rooms. The inlaid martini glass in the floor is a little subliminal message under the foot soak chairs!”
These new amenities are just a continuation of what Adventure Suites has always done — provide an over-the-top experience for guests. The Adventure Suite’s team works hard to create this environment.
She said: “We have a full-time construction crew working year-round improving this facility and have for many years. It’s a one of a kind property. There’s nothing like it anywhere in the world. Every room is different. We go to conventions across the country to become proficient in the themes we are building, and that includes the restaurant and spa, which will have special lighting and sound effects. You’ll have to see it to believe it.”
