Notes from Lakes Environmental Association (LEA):

Caution while boating near Loons: LEA would like to remind everyone to exercise caution when near loons while out on the lakes. On July 3, one of LEA’s Courtesy Boat Inspectors found a deceased loon at the Long Lake boat launch in Harrison. The loon was killed by a boat propeller. The loon was buried by LEA staff at the recommendation of a state biologist. This incident occurred during hatching season, and there will soon be baby loons along with adults to watch out for.
