SWEDEN — The tiny hamlet of Sweden celebrates summer in a big way. It’s annual Sweden Days highlights the natural beauty of its rural environment and the creativity of its inhabitants. The four-day festival Aug. 6-9 is organized by the Sweden Historical Society (SHS).

The festivities begin on Thursday morning with a woods walk led by town doyens Jane Gibbons and Kay Lyman. Jane and other volunteers have cleared a trail through an abandoned stretch of the Black Mountain Road that crosses a creek and leads to the historic Webber Pond Cemetery, where walkers will learn about some of its inhabitants.
