LANCASTER — Two inmates at the state prison in Berlin were indicted on charges that they attempted to murder a third inmate by slashing his neck in an incident that occurred last August.

Kevin Gil, 46, and Donald Breton, 54, were each indicted on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, simple assault, falsifying physical evidence, being a convicted felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and six counts of Class A assault. The Coos County grand jury indictments were returned on June 30 and released last week.
