BRETTON WOODS — A diverse group of participants — nonprofit organizations, government and business leaders, public officials, private landowners and entrepreneurs from New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and New  York — explored evolving trends in outdoor recreation and their role as critical economic drivers in this Northern Forest region at a gathering last week at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel.

Nearly 175 people spent two days of intensive study at the Northern Forest Regional Symposium from Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14, to Friday afternoon, Nov. 16, checking into the potential benefits and challenges that this growing economic sector is generating: workforce, natural resources, quality of life, culture and sustainability.
