WHITEFIELD – The North Country Tuesday night bid a fond goodbye to Gov. John Lynch and DRED Commissioner George Bald, recognizing the contributions of the two state officials who will be leaving their positions in the next few months.

Lynch and Bald were both keynote speakers for North Country Council’s annual meeting at the Mountain View Grand. But the evening turned into an opportunity for local officials to thank the two for their efforts to help the economy of the North Country. Bald will be retiring Nov. 1 as commissioner of the Department of Resources and Economic Development. Lynch chose not to run this November for a fifth term as governor.
