BERLIN — It’s not every day that one’s family heritage is enshrined in a plaque for passersby to see on a rural road, so for Caroleen McKenzie “Mac” Dudley, the state historic marker honoring her mother Betty as a “White Mountain National Forest baby” is very meaningful.

Family and friends of Caroleen and her husband, Stephen, attended an Aug. 1 dedication ceremony of the historic marker’s unveiling, along with Congressional delegation representatives, state and local officials.
