CONCORD — A new AARP survey of New Hampshire residents age 18 and older reveals overwhelming bipartisan support for stronger consumer protections to combat fraud and scams occurring at cryptocurrency kiosks throughout the state. With crypto-related fraud on the rise nationwide, residents want lawmakers to safeguard consumers using cryptocurrency ATMs.

Crypto ATMs, also known as crypto kiosks, are machines that convert cash into digital currency and send it to a crypto wallet in seconds. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the number of complaints involving crypto ATMs doubled between 2023 and 2024, and the amount of money reported stolen through crypto ATM scams increased by 31 percent, climbing to $246.7 million.
