BERLIN — Soon, the first residents of the renovated Brown School, which closed in 2019, will have a new place to call home.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 13 outside the 100-plus-year-old school preceded a tour of some apartments on the first and second floors. When all is complete, the building will feature 20 apartments over three floors. Among the one, two and three-bedroom offerings are one ADA- and two ADA-accessible apartments. Fifteen of the apartments will be affordable, aimed at housing for low- to moderate-income renters. Five apartments will be rented at higher, market rates. The building sits at the corner of Norway and Main streets, and near 8th Street. All of the apartments have been spoken for, with security deposits in place. The rents range from $897-950 for a one-bedroom apartment, $1,152 to $1,300 for a two-bedroom unit and $1,530 to $1,600 for a three-bedroom rental.
