WASHINGTON D.C. — The Department of Homeland Security announced that it will make available an additional 35,000 H-2B temporary work visas for the remainder of the fiscal year 2020.

In January, U.S. Sen. Jean Shaheen (D-N.H.) and a bipartisan group of lawmakers called on Homeland Security to increase the statutory cap of H-2B visas for FY2020. Under the law, the department has the authority to release up to 64,176 additional visas for the remainder of the year.
