LITTLETON — New Hampshire-based composer and guitarist, Randy Roos, returns to The Loading Dock. He’ll be performing with Urethane, a high-energy fusion jazz band, in Littleton on Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available onEventbritein advance for $10 and $15 the day of the all-ages show. There’s a $5 student discount at the door. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m.
This band blends a potent mixture of compelling compositions that serve as a launch pad for exploratory improvisation, infectious grooves, and spacey jams. Fans of Medeski Martin and Wood’s adventure with John Scofield would not be disappointed. Roos is a Grammy-winning composer/guitarist/sound engineer who lives just south of the notch and is a professor at Berklee College of Music. His band consists of drummer Tim Gilmore, bassist Mike Rossi, and Steve Hunt on keyboard. Tim Gilmore has played with artists ranging from “Tower of Power” to Sheila Jordan to Lester Bowie. Rossi and Filmore form a rock-solid rhythm section. Hunt is an incredible pianist in his own right. He has played with some of the heaviest of the heavies in jazz including over ten years with guitarist Allan Holdsworth and has a strong personal style all his own. This show is a chance to hear musicians playing at a very high level, the likes of which you would need to travel to Boston, Montreal or New York City to experience.
