BERLIN — Happy 2025. As the new year begins, a quick look back at memorable moments in 2024 is in order. Local, state and national politics rose to importance. In January, Robert Cone was sworn into office as Berlin’s mayor, his first two-year term. Cone defeated longtime Mayor Paul Grenier, who had served seven consecutive terms.
Two months later, in March, there would be a change in the Berlin City Council makeup with the resignation for work and family reasons of Denise Morgan. Candidates were interviewed to fill Morgan’s seat, including Grenier, who was appointed to the city council.
