Late Night-Emma Thompson

“Late Night,” which centers around the female host (Emma Thompson) of a late night talk show, is the sort of film that people might say, “I’ll wait until it shows up on Netflix,” but this is exactly the sort of smaller film that should be seen in a theater.

Since the rise of streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, there’s been a shift in people’s viewing habits. Streaming hasn’t killed movie theaters, but audiences seem to be gravitating toward big-budget spectacles because they can justify seeing those films in a theatrical presentation that they can’t emulate at home. The logic is smaller, character-driven films don’t benefit from the large-screen format.
