Prior to opening a brick and mortar academy in Biddeford, Stoddard and El Ouahabi took their circus coaching skills on the road, and taught students in traditional tents while traveling throughout Maine and New England.

Shortly after Circus Maine closed its circus arts school on Thompson’s Point in April, Amity Stoddard, a circus coach from Warren, noticed her phone was blowing up.

She received dozens of calls from “stranded performers” who were upset that Maine’s only circus school had shuttered and they were out of a training facility. Stoddard, who was already planning on opening her own school with her partner Sellam El Ouahabi, took advantage of this demand.
