Once a week, I like to go for a long ski somewhere interesting and different from my regular routes. Last Wednesday, I was wanted to get out there skiing before Thursday’s “rain” event messed things up. Freshly waxed classic skis called to me from the basement to go for a glide.

I thought of the possibilities of where to ski and chose a place not too far away that guaranteed good conditions, fun trails, and interesting people. I don’t think I’ve ever had a “bad” time at Bear Notch Ski Touring Center, so off to Bartlett, I went. In less than a half hour, I was there. Pulling into the parking lot, I saw I wasn’t alone. Dozens of skis waited for owners outside the warming hut.
