This Thursday, the temperature was in the mid-80s in the valley. So, it was good to go for a hike up to Lion Head on the east side of Mount Washington. When I drove to AMC Pinkham Notch Camp that morning, I wasn’t sure if I was going up to Lunch Rocks at the base of the Tuckerman Ravine Headwall, or higher on the Lion Head Trail.

Part way up the lower Tuckerman Ravine Trail, I met an interesting character headed uphill as well. That is not unusual on that trail. I’ve met many types there of divergent persuasions. Once I met a young Chinese guy who, like his government, thought of the Dalai Lama as an enemy of the state.
