Dubbing assortments make getting into the art a viable, cost effective alternative. (STEVE ANGERS PHOTO)

Dubbing: meaning "dress or adorn" or dress (an artificial fishing fly) with strands of fur or wool or with other material.

This fly tyers first adventure into dubbing, as with many beginner fly tyers, is the making of the Hare’s Ear Nymph. This universal pattern is as it says. It is created by taking the fur from the ear of a hare and dressing the hook with that fur. Sounded easy enough. Wrong!
