November is a month of many designations — “stick season,” “deer season” and “shoulder month.” Although the last name has to do with cheaper travel prices, I think it also works for describing how I feel at this time of year.

For me, November is a month of transitions between warm weather activities and winter ones. On a warm day, I’ll hang on fall’s side of the shoulder, riding my bike. A cold and snowy day sends me over to the winter shoulder side and thoughts of Nordic skiing. How can I get ready for that?
