With variable weather and declining daylight, fall family riding in New England can be tricky. To be successful, a trip has to incorporate 4 P’s: planning, preparation, pedaling and punting.

The last of these, “punting,” is what you do when circumstances render the ride a bad idea. Given the fickle weather and shorter days, families have to be ready to switch plan A for plan B or C at a moment’s notice. Parents need to be flexible and resourceful to keep the kids safe and happy.
