Last week’s Tele-Talk question — “What do you think the Conway Community Building should be used for?” — received 47 responses. Many said it should be senior or workforce housing, while others said it should be a homeless shelter, a youth center, an athletic facility, town hall or a Market Basket.

It would have been a great place to build a new rec center that could have been a 50-plus-year place. The cheaper route isn’t always a better one. It also would be a much better place for the town offices (once it was rehabbed) than dealing with Conway Village, the traffic and parking. Being up to code depends on what the space will be used for. Building code and fire/life safety code differ in some areas and the more stringent code applies.
