To the editor:

Walter Isaacson’s new book, "The Greatest Sentence Ever Written," was published in November 2025 in anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This short monograph discusses self-evident truths, unalienable rights and “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” concepts that spurred the American Revolution.

I agree with the letter-writers conclusion but his letter does not convey the compromise and understanding that would support it. Instead, he repeats the tired and inaccurate generalizations of the Left and that is one reason we aren't able to find common ground and come together as a nation.

When President Trump is described as Hitler, meaningful discussions cannot be had.

When the letter-writer asserts that Trump is a "would be king" who is stopping "peaceful" protests, he is just using hyperbole. Trump (as well as the Leftist-Marxists) use the court repeatedly to try to get their way. That isn't what a "king" would do.

And the characterization of what the anti-ICE communists are doing is not anywhere near the definition of "peaceful protests." These people are literally attacking ICE officers. What is peaceful about that? Trying to use vehicles to corral or strike officers is not peaceful. Throwing fireworks or bricks or rocks is not peaceful.

It is almost like we are living in two different worlds. Let's start by trying to agree on the facts and so far, we are not in agreement.
