Donald Trump’s presidency has spawned an epidemic of insanity. Surprisingly, though, most of it has emanated from his political opponents — particularly as they attempt to rig our electoral system against him. Among their shortsighted ideas toward that goal is lowering the voting age to 6. Or is it 16? Well, there isn’t much difference, is there?
Another injudicious drop in the voting age seems especially absurd in light of the notorious modern trend of children remaining financially dependent on their parents deep into alleged adulthood. Their poster boy is a 30-year-old man who had to be legally evicted from his parents’ home. For all the hilarity his case inspired, such extended dependency achieved some formal recognition when Obamacare provided for parents insuring their children into their mid-20s.
