State Rep. Ed Butler has sponsored a disorderly household bill that would make it possible for towns to more directly deal with the owner of party homes and possibly even levy fines against them.

CONCORD — A subcommittee of lawmakers Tuesday morning discussed a disorderly household bill filed by local state Rep. Ed Butler (D-Hart's Location). The bill would have implications for the short-term rental market and has Realtors concerned.

Short-term rentals have been an issue in town for years. They made the news recently when resident Ray Shakir came to the board of selectmen last week to urge the town to pursue regulations. He sited a number of problems that he  attributes to short term rentals and they include congestion, noise, dogs, litter, lack of maintenance to houses and disrespect of lot lines.
