CONCORD — Under sweltering midday heat, hundreds of biomass and renewable energy supporters gathered Thursday to urge New Hampshire’s House and Senate lawmakers to override two key energy proposals when they meet on Sept. 13. Both bills passed the Legislature with strong, bipartisan votes before being vetoed by Gov. Chris Sununu. Speaker after speaker stood to ask the large crowd to connect with lawmakers before the state loses local energy and local jobs.

“Are you fired up? Is everybody hot under the collar? Well so am I,” asked Sen. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro), who implored rally goers to call lawmakers and urge overriding both vetoes. “Talk about your jobs and the impact on your families and communities. Tell lawmakers the savings predicted by the governor is temporary, and the long-term costs of the vetoes make this a loser. And tell them our state loses so much, our home-grown energy will go away.”
