OSSIPEE — Christina Fay took the stand in her own defense Tuesday and Wednesday in Carroll County Superior Court, where she faces 18 counts of animal cruelty.

Last December, a circuit judge found Fay, then of Wolfeboro, guilty in a written order that spoke of dozens of Great Dane dogs living in squalid conditions. Some suffered from untreated ailments and some were left without adequate water, Circuit Judge Charles Greenhalgh said.
