CONWAY — One thing you can say about the Conway Scenic Railroad, which marks its golden anniversary this month — the venerable tourist attraction certainly isn’t showing its age; in fact, it has never been busier and is celebrating its 50th birthday with a full slate of activities and special runs.

Founded by Dwight Smith, Carroll Reed and Bill Levy in 1968, the CSRR used a former Canadian National engine to make its first official test run on Aug. 3, 1974, and the next day, the first tickets were sold for public train rides.
