PINKHAM NOTCH — There have been several plane crashes on Mount Washington over the years, but one that especially stands out in local history was the downing in a November 1969 snowstorm of a plane on the 6,288-foot mountain that took the life of the pilot and two young parachutists dressed in Santa Claus suits.

That crash was recalled this week by a now 76-year-old former Army helicopter pilot and past North Conway resident who now lives in retirement in his hometown of Weymouth, Mass.
