TAMWORTH — Watching and listening to gifted singer/songwriter Alana MacDonald, formerly of Devonsquare, perform with her talented veteran band at the Farmstand Bed and Breakfast’s Feel the Barn series on Sunday night, I was again struck by how blessed this valley is to have had and still have such great music.

It was a lovefest of Alana fans at the sold-out show in the intimate setting of the Christmas-light-illuminated barn within sight of the Chocorua dam, with Alana showing she is still — at 75 and after three Stage 3 bouts with cancer — a musical tour de force, performing solo songs such as “Blame It On Red” and the humorous country rockin’ tune, “I Ain’t No Pickup Babe I Drive an 18-Wheeler,” and several of her Devonsquare hits, including “If You Could See Me Now” and “Bye Bye Route 66.”
