Earl A. Schlie

Earl A. Schlie, 66, of Berlin, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at his home. He was born in St. Clair, Mich., on July 15, 1951, the son of the late Earl E. and Lillian S. (Marks) Schlie and moved to California when he was 9. He lived most of his life in California and moved to Berlin in 2009. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

Earl was a self-employed machinist and also worked as a manufacturing engineer. He was a coach for the Children’s Baseball League and the Children’s Bowling League. He was the founding president of the Society of Engineers at Pierce College in California and he enjoyed painting, playing the guitar, writing songs, books, old cars and history.
