Alexander M. Hamilton, 89, of Conway passed away on March 13, 2017, peacefully, at home on the edge of the Swift River, as he wished.
Al was born in East Orange, N.J. on Aug. 25, 1927. He graduated early from high school to serve in the Navy during World War II. It proved to be near the end of the war, and Al was soon discharged and joined the workforce. While employed at Faitoute Iron & Steel Co. in Newark, N.J., he was assigned to a desk next to a lovely young woman, Dorothy Tigue. A co-worker recognized his interest in Dot, encouraged him to ask her for a date, and loaned him the funds for the first outing, an ice show in NYC. Two years later, Alexander and Dorothy were married, on Nov. 6, 1948, and became genuine, loving partners for life.
