Jean Louise Vappi, 75, of Old Mountain Road, Moultonborough, died May 23, 2007, at her home after a long illness.Born in Boston, Mass., on July 30, 1931, she was the daughter of James L. and Florence L. (Finley) Reid. She grew up in Milton, Mass., and graduated from Milton High School, class of 1949. She had been a resident of Moultonborough since 1951.She and her husband owned and operated their dairy and beef cattle farm and maple sugaring operation for over 40 years. She was a very active member of the Moultonborough United Methodist Church and the Moultonborough United Methodist Women, and had served as superintendent of Sunday School.She was a member of many oganizations in the Moultonborugh area, including the Moultonborough Grange, the Moultonborough Women's Club and the Historical Society, and was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the board of directors for VNA Hospice of Wolfeboro and the Moultonborough Visiting Nurses Association.She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Richard Roy Vappi Sr., who died in February of 1991, and a daughter, Priscilla Vappi.She is survived by five children: Linda J. Nolin and husband Russell of Moultonborough, Rebecca A. Morgan and husband Ricky of Moultonborough, James A. Vappi of Moultonborough, Victoria J. Frewin of Cumberland, Maine, and Richard R. Vappi Jr. and wife Rhonda of Moultonborough; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Doris Oster of Attleboro, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes 3 and 104, Meredith, on Friday, June 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, Moultonborough, on Saturday, June 2, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Barbara Cann, pastor, will officiate. Instead of flowers, donations could be made to Community Health and Hospice, North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
