Movement is a nutrient. Just like vitamin C or oxygen, it is required for good health. Sure, you can get away without it for longer than not breathing, but just like oxygen, there are consequences to not having enough. 

Movement stimulates your brain, improves mood, lowers stress, lubricates your joints and it is one of the constants your organs depend on to work properly. But too much movement, which more often than not means too much too soon or with poor form, creates microtrauma that wears out the body or doesn’t allow healing to take place.
