Strawberry Pie

Yup, it is moving toward the end of June and it is time to enjoy fresh Maine grown strawberries! Is there anything better? Perhaps it is that strawberries (and peas) mean that summer really has arrived and it is time to get out your bathing suit and sunscreen and dive into the full loveliness of a Maine summer.

One of my first memories of Maine was picking berries at Bucknell’s Strawberry Field in Denmark a years ago (1978?). It was such a lovely day with a warm breeze blowing, the scent of sweet strawberries in the air and me, crab walking down a straw-lined aisle picking some of the most beautiful berries I had ever seen. I was in heaven and the pie that the chef at our restaurant served that night remains in my memory.
