Howdy neighbor!

Just after six p.m. last Wednesday, when just setting out to help set up the Bridgton Band’s concert at Stevens Brook Elementary School, I found myself caught in one of the hardest, fiercest summer rainstorms it has been my pleasure to enjoy. A minute or so of windy gusts, a sudden darkening of the sky, one rumble of thunder, and then the skies opened up. At once, Main Hill was a river, Post Office Square began to flood, and even the Portland Road’s storm drains were overwhelmed in the vicinity of the school. It was a rain that hurt to walk in, a rain that made it well-nigh impossible to see the road at times, and all in all, a rain that lasted only about ten minutes.
