HISTORIANS Ned Allen (right) with Mike Davis, history columnist for The Bridgton News, pictured at the Bridgton Historical Society during the town’s 250th.

Howdy neighbor.

It is a sad day in Bridgton; and I assure our readers no common event now clothes this column in the garb of mourning. Our town has suffered a great loss, and I would have it known here for all our readers of today, and all our readers of the future, just how remarkable and influential a life we now celebrate. For at the close of the year my good friend, our beloved townsman, and the finest small-town historian I have ever known, Ned Allen, passed away.
