Local high school fall sports have begun, and it started with the Berlin High Mountaineers field hockey team losing a squeaker to Kennett High School late last week by a 2-1 score.
Kennett scored early in the first quarter when Katheryn Hawkes dribbled down the strong side of the field, completed a solid pass to Tessa Cappozoli who one-timed it to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. They added to that lead, when at 4:56 of the third quarter Hawkes got in the action again, this time scoring on a redirected pass off the stick of MacKenzie Carr.
