Richard Umiker: Learn about school funding, local taxes on Sept. 30

To the editor:

The conversation around school funding needs a fresh start to restore common ground. Long ago we accepted that each community must take responsibility for ensuring access to free public education. While no system can guarantee an ideal training for every child, we must manage our expenses responsibly, providing every child with equitable schooling. Embracing this obligation requires financial commitment that should be shared fairly across the community.
