To the editor:

Berlin is a community with a large elderly population. Many of these folks no longer have family members in the area. They have lost spouses, neighbors and friends. They are vulnerable, may live alone and be easily frightened. In years gone by, neighbors watched over elderly neighbors. This is no longer true.
