The mouse pad for my computer is from the Library of Congress. I bought it in the library’s gift shop at the end of a wonderful morning spent touring the magnificent end of the 19th Century building. On the mouse pad is a drawing of an array of volumes, some open, some not, and a quotation from Thomas Jefferson: “I cannot live without books”.
