BERLIN — Unfilled employment positions within several city departments may remain unfilled or vacant as Berlin/city leaders look to keep the tax rate from increasing by $2 or $4.

The proposed fiscal year 2027 budget is $48.5 million, a 9.25 percent increase from the fiscal year 2026 budget. The city’s fiscal years begin on July 1 and end on June 30. The FY27 budget is so named because it will begin July 1 and end June 30, 2027.
