BERLIN — Berlin High Valedictorian Joshua Berthiaume and Salutatorian Kelsey Alimondi said they are happy to share top honors for the graduating class of 2019.

Long-time friends, the two said they knew their cumulative grade averages were among the highest but only learned three weeks ago that they would be valedictorian and salutatorian. The pair said they did not compete against each other but simply did their best  as they prepared for college. In the end, their averages were within a half a percentage point of each other.
