BERLIN — Berlin Fire Department is pleased to present the newly dedicated monument to the family of Sargent Daniel J Albert of Berlin, NH. Sgt. Albert served as enlisted infantry in the Army from 1966-1968, he passed away in Vietnam Nov. 21, 1968 by injuries sustained from a land mine at Duc Hoa. Through the efforts of our members, Ret. Captain Madalena, the Berlin Historical Society and Gerry Lavertue, along the generous donation by Ed and Dave Bryant of Bryant Funeral Home, the flag pole area was cleaned up, and a new granite monument was placed in memory of Sgt. Albert when Berlin Fire erected a new flag pole. The smaller flag pole on which the POW MIA flag flies was originally dedicated to Sgt. Albert in 1996. The VFW Honor guard will be performing a Military Honors dedication at the Berlin Fire Department on Veteran’s day at approximately 10:45 a.m.
