ERROL — Errol’s 250th anniversary is happening this weekend. The majority of events will take place on Saturday, Aug. 31 throughout downtown Errol. The event starts with a morning paddle down the Androscoggin hosted by Northern Waters Outfitters and Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Crafters, food vendors and organizations will be set up for a vendor fair at the Errol Consolidated School from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Across the street behind the Errol General Store, a classic car show will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Spectators can vote for Best of Show awards for one car and one truck.

Go back in time from 10-11 a.m. at the Errol fire station and view a slideshow of photos from Errol’s 200th anniversary in 1974 along with a viewing of artifacts by the Errol Heritage Commission at the jailhouse (next to the fire station) from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Individuals of all ages can enjoy “The Magic of Jason Purdy,” a skilled magician and illusionist at the First Church of Errol Congregation from 11 a.m.-noon. A parade celebrating Errol’s 250 years of history will take off down Main Street at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join and should line up at 12:30 p.m. at the state shed. There will be another presentation at the First Church of Errol Congregation at 2:30 p.m. by Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. “Animals with a Bad Reputation” will introduce attendees to live animals with a bad “rep” and help you consider the good side of these wild neighbors.
