Specialist Nathan L. Rancloes, a member of Battery A, 2d Battalion, 197th Field Artillery, State Armories, Berlin and Lancaster, NH, was recently awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he sustained while deployed as a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Service, 2d Battalion, 197th Field Artillery (Forward), during Operation Iraqi Freedom II, from 5 January 2004 to 18 February 2005. The award citation reads "This is to certify that the President of the United States of America ...Specialist Nathan L. Rancloes, a member of Battery A, 2d Battalion, 197th Field Artillery, State Armories, Berlin and Lancaster, NH, was recently awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he sustained while deployed as a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Service, 2d Battalion, 197th Field Artillery (Forward), during Operation Iraqi Freedom II, from 5 January 2004 to 18 February 2005. The award citation reads "This is to certify that the President of the United States of America has awarded the Purple Hear established by General George Washington at Newburgh, New York, August 7, 1782 to Specialist Nathan L. Rancloes for wounds received in action in Iraq on 11 September 2004." The award is signed by Major General John R. S. Batiste, Commanding General, 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized) and the Honorable R. L. Brownlee, acting Secretary of the Army.
