JACKSON — The late artist David C. Baker, who lived and worked in Jackson from 1946 until his death in 1999, will be remembered this September in a series of events that will culminate in the premiere of a documentary, "See What's Whispered: The Legacy of David C. Baker," by Judy C. Faust, one of Baker's protégées.

Baker invented a revolutionary approach to painting, 'vitreous flux,' manipulating paint on Marlite board with a hair dryer and other unusual implements. Other painters were inspired by Baker's free spirit and many learned from his techniques. He was often referred to as "The Dean of Artists" in the Mount Washington Valley. In his later years, battling cancer, he wrote wise and witty poetry. He was a friend and mentor to many people throughout his life. The three September events will inform, entertain and inspire a new audience, and reunite many who knew and loved him.
