ANDROSCOGGIN VALLEY — Going through my mother's recipe box recently, I came upon my grandmother's recipe for meat pie. My mother was not French Canadian but my father's family certainly is and tourtière pies were a holiday tradition that my mother mastered.

Tourtière (or tortière) originated in Quebec and remain popular today among French Canadian families. The tradition remains very much alive here in the Androscoggin Valley where many restaurants and eateries offer the tasty meat pie for sale during the holidays.
